Reiki Journeying
Receive deeper guidance, healing, and understanding
Have you ever wished you could move beyond the noise of your everyday thoughts and receive clearer guidance about something you are experiencing?
Perhaps you are facing an important decision, repeating a painful pattern, carrying an emotional wound you cannot fully understand, or simply feeling called to explore a deeper level of your consciousness.
A Reiki Journey creates a compassionate energetic space in which you can step outside your usual reactions and experience your situation from a broader perspective. Rather than only thinking about what needs to change, you are given an opportunity to feel, witness, and understand what is happening within you at a deeper level.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is commonly described as a form of life-force energy, similar in some ways to concepts such as chi or prana.
Within the Reiki tradition, however, Reiki is understood as more than an impersonal current of energy. It is experienced as an intelligent, compassionate, and supportive presence that works in accordance with the recipient’s individual needs and readiness.
During a traditional Reiki session, a practitioner generally places their hands on or near the recipient’s body and allows Reiki to flow where it is needed. People may seek Reiki for emotional, spiritual, energetic, or physical support.
Reiki Journeying works with the same energy but uses it in a more internally guided and exploratory way.
What is a Reiki Journey?
A Reiki Journey can be thought of as a guided inner experience held and directed by Reiki.
It shares certain qualities with guided meditation and Shamanic Journey practices, but Reiki itself creates the energetic container and determines how the journey unfolds. I do not decide what you should see, where you should go, or what healing should occur. My role is to facilitate the experience, observe what Reiki reveals, and communicate that information without imposing my own interpretation upon it.
During the journey, Reiki may act as a mediator between your everyday human awareness and the deeper or higher aspects of your consciousness.
This can allow you to look at an emotionally difficult subject without immediately becoming overwhelmed by the fear, shame, defensiveness, or confusion normally attached to it. Instead of remaining caught inside the problem, you may be able to witness it from a more spacious perspective and receive an understanding that is not available through analysis alone.
It is not simply about receiving an answer. It is about experiencing that answer deeply enough that something within you can begin to shift.
How is this different from traditional Reiki?
Traditional Reiki generally focuses on receiving energy while resting quietly. Although insights, emotions, images, or sensations may arise, the session is not necessarily structured as a conscious internal journey.
During a Reiki Journey, we begin with a specific intention or area of exploration. Reiki then guides us into the experience associated with that intention.
There are two primary ways a journey may unfold:
I observe and narrate the healing.
I describe the places, symbols, energetic movements, beings, relationships, or healing processes that Reiki is showing me.
You are guided through your own internal experience.
I offer prompts while Reiki guides you toward the places, understandings, or experiences that are appropriate for you.
Most sessions contain a combination of both. I may describe what I am witnessing while also inviting you to notice what you are seeing, feeling, sensing, or knowing for yourself.
What can I bring to a Reiki Journey?
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly worded question. A general intention is enough.
You might bring:
-
A relationship or emotional pattern you want to understand
-
A difficult decision or life transition
-
A fear, wound, belief, or block you feel ready to explore
-
Grief surrounding someone who has died
-
Questions about your purpose or direction
-
Ancestral or family patterns
-
A desire to reconnect with a more authentic part of yourself
-
Curiosity about past-life, multidimensional, or spiritual experiences
-
A desire for general healing without a predetermined outcome
Before the session, I may ask:
What are you ready to release?
What would you like to invite more fully into your life?
These questions provide the journey with direction without attempting to control what Reiki chooses to address.
What can Reiki Journeying support?
Every journey is different, but sessions may support:
Emotional healing
Reiki may help you approach painful memories, fears, grief, shame, or internal conflict from a gentler and less reactive state.
Greater clarity
A journey may offer a different perspective on a relationship, decision, repeating pattern, or difficult life experience.
Connection with your deeper self
Reiki may help remove layers of conditioning, protection, or self-perception so that you can experience more of your authentic nature.
Ancestral and past-life exploration
A journey may reveal patterns or experiences understood within this work as ancestral, karmic, or connected with another point in the soul’s history.
Grief and spiritual connection
Some journeys involve deceased loved ones, spiritual guides, soul families, or other forms of consciousness. These experiences cannot be guaranteed and are allowed to arise only when Reiki guides the session in that direction.
Energetic release
Reiki may address cords, attachments, energetic patterns, or connections that appear to be limiting movement or growth.
Consciousness exploration
A session can also be used simply to explore inner realms, spiritual awareness, or dimensions of consciousness beyond ordinary perception.
The possibilities are broad, and I never know in advance exactly where Reiki will take us. Each journey is individual.
What happens during a session?
At the beginning of the session, we discuss what you would like support with and establish an intention together.
You will then lie down or rest somewhere comfortable. Physical touch is not required. Reiki comes directly to you and flows according to your needs.
Once the energetic space has been established, I guide you across what is described within this journey tradition as a bridge of light. This represents a transition away from the dense and hurried awareness of ordinary life and into a quieter realm of consciousness where healing and understanding may be easier to access.
Some people describe this as feeling like a temporary vacation from the intensity of everyday life.
From there, the journey unfolds according to the Reiki energy. I may verbally describe what I am observing, guide you through an experience of your own, or move between the two approaches.
Depending on your preference, the session may be recorded, or I may use automatic writing to document what I witness. You may receive an audio recording or typed account following the session.
What does a Reiki Journey feel like?
There is no single correct way to experience a journey.
You may:
-
Enter a deep meditative state
-
Feel warmth, peace, movement, tingling, or spaciousness
-
Experience vivid images, colors, places, or symbols
-
Receive words, memories, emotions, or sudden understanding
-
Feel deeply relaxed or temporarily fall asleep
-
Experience an internal knowing without seeing anything visually
-
Remember the entire journey clearly
-
Remember only portions of it
You may also enter what I call the gap. The gap occurs when the ordinary conscious mind temporarily steps aside. You may feel as though you fell asleep, lost track of the journey, or were not consciously present for part of the session.
This does not mean nothing happened. Reiki may be working at a subconscious or energetic level before the experience is ready to be understood by the conscious mind.
Your nervous system, consciousness, and healing process are unique. One person’s experience should never be used as the standard for another’s.
Where do we go during a Reiki Journey?
Within the journey system in which I trained, the energetic realms visited during sessions are sometimes referred to as the twelve heavens.
Much of the journey work takes place in what is called the third heaven. This realm may contain recognizable healing locations such as:
-
The River of Life
-
The Field of Possibilities
-
The Tree of Life
-
The Hall of Ancestors
-
The Reflection Pool
These places provide the human mind with imagery and context through which a deeper energetic process may be experienced.
Journeys into higher realms may become increasingly abstract and difficult to translate into ordinary language. A higher-numbered realm is not considered better, more advanced, or evidence of greater spiritual evolution.
These realms can also be understood as existing within consciousness itself. You do not need to believe in a particular cosmology to receive or benefit from the experience.
An honest word about expectations
Reiki is not a magic eraser, and a Reiki Journey cannot guarantee that a lifelong concern will disappear in a single session.
Reiki meets you where you are.
In my experience, it does not force open something that you are not yet ready to address. It works compassionately within your present capacity, nervous system, life experience, and personal path.
Sometimes a session creates an immediate and unmistakable release. At other times, it helps remove one layer of a larger pattern. You may leave with clarity, emotional relief, greater self-understanding, a new perspective, or a subtle sense that something internally has begun to reorganize.
Reiki may soften an experience and support your movement through it, but it does not necessarily remove every lesson, consequence, or process that is still part of your growth.
Healing is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is the quiet realization that you are no longer carrying something in quite the same way.
My training and relationship with Reiki
A Reiki attunement may be received within a relatively short period, but developing a mature relationship with Reiki requires continued practice, study, discernment, and devotion.
I have studied this particular Reiki Journey technique for more than five years with Colleen Benelli and her daughter, Robyn.
Colleen has spent decades studying Reiki and Shamanism and has brought these traditions together through her Journey-style Reiki work. I am deeply grateful for this lineage and for the responsibility of carrying the work forward with integrity.
My role is not to direct Reiki, manufacture an experience, or tell you what you should believe. I hold the space, facilitate the journey, observe what arises, and help you understand the experience without unnecessarily imposing my own meaning upon it.
A client experience
One client came to this work carrying lifelong physical difficulties, chronic back pain, painful childhood experiences, and strained relationships with her daughters.
Across multiple sessions, she began to feel less burdened by what she had carried. She developed a deeper understanding of her patterns and experienced a renewed sense of joy, even while continuing to navigate physical pain.
Over time, her relationships with her daughters also began to improve. Following sessions, she experienced genuine relief from some of her physical discomfort, although I would not describe her as having been cured.
What stood out was the gentleness of the process. Reiki met her without requiring her to confront everything at once. It provided support at a pace her system could receive.
Individual experiences vary, and one client’s results do not predict another person’s experience.
Session options
Reiki Journeys may be offered:
-
In person
-
Online
-
Privately
-
In a group setting
Distance does not change the structure of the journey, and physical touch is not required. For an online session, you simply need a private and comfortable place where you can lie down or rest without interruption.
After the journey, we allow time to discuss what arose and how it may relate to your original intention.
Is Reiki Journeying right for me?
Reiki Journeying may be a good fit when you:
-
Want to understand the deeper roots of an issue
-
Feel caught in repetitive thoughts or emotional reactions
-
Are open to imagery, symbolism, energy work, or expanded states of consciousness
-
Want a modality that combines energetic healing with internal exploration
-
Feel drawn to spiritual guidance but do not want the practitioner deciding what your experience means
-
Want to approach a difficult subject in a gentle and compassionate way
It may not be the best fit when you are looking for a practitioner to predict the future, guarantee contact with a particular person who has died, provide a medical diagnosis, or promise a specific result.
You do not have to hold any particular spiritual belief. Curiosity, openness, and willingness to receive are enough.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be able to visualize?
No. Some people see vivid imagery, while others receive information through emotion, sensation, words, memories, or a quiet internal knowing. Visual imagery is only one way of experiencing a journey.
Can I choose exactly where we go?
We can establish an intention, but we do not force the destination or outcome. Reiki guides the session toward what is most appropriate within the framework of the work.
Can you guarantee that I will connect with someone who has died?
No. A deceased loved one may appear during a session, but this cannot be guaranteed. Reiki determines what is relevant and appropriate for the journey.
What happens if I fall asleep?
Falling asleep or entering the gap does not invalidate the session. Reiki may continue working beyond the awareness of the conscious mind.
Will one session resolve my issue?
It is possible to experience a significant shift in one session, but deeper or long-standing concerns may unfold across several sessions. No specific outcome can be guaranteed.
Is an online session as effective as an in-person session?
Reiki Journeying does not require physical touch. The structure of the journey remains the same whether the session is conducted in person or remotely.

Begin your Journey
Something within you may already know what it is ready to explore. It may be a question you have been carrying, a pattern you are ready to see differently, an old wound that needs a gentler form of attention, or simply a curiosity about what lies beyond your ordinary awareness.
You do not need to know where the journey will take you.You only need to be willing to begin.
